Maggie Grace is an American actress who was born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her most famous roles include Shannon Rutherford, a character in ABC's Lost series as well as Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. After the divorce of her parents the actress left Worthington Ohio in order to settle in Los Angeles. While struggling financially she landed her first acting gig as Rachel's Room's title character the online video series Rachel's Room in 2001. In 2002 she was nominated to receive an Young Artist Award with her part as the 15-year-old murder victim Martha Moxley. Grace Rutherford was the main actor in Lost for its first two seasons. In 2004, she was awarded the Screen Actors Guild Award with the entire ensemble. Grace was keen to pursue film after playing opposite Tom Welling's character in The Fog, in 2005. She starred in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in 2007 as well as Taken (2008) with Liam Neeson. The same character was played by Grace as Kim Mills in Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both in 2012). Grace returned to Shannon's character as Shannon in Lost for two additional episodes. This included the series final. Grace was a part of the show's sixth season that aired between 2013 and 2014. She plays Faith who's both a star-gazer and the girl in the group. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. Being part of the Gyllenhaal family, she is the daughter and elder sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. Her first roles were in the films of her father in his adolescent years. With her brother, she was also on the screen in Donnie Darko (2000). Then she appeared in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (both 2002). Gyllenhaal's lead roles in Secretary, the romantic comedy-drama erotico and Sherrybaby (a drama) earned her nominations for Golden Globe Awards. The Dark Knight, which was released in 2008 after several highly successful films including World Trade Center (2006), brought Gyllenhaal greater fame. The role she played in Crazy Heart as a mother with a single child earned her nomination to the Academy Award Best Supporting Actress. She subsequently starred in the comedy and dramas Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and Will Not Back Down (2012). Her other parts include acting as a Secret Service agent of the Secret Service in White House Down 2013, singing in Frank 2014 and as a singer in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, in which she plays the title character. The debut of Gyllenhaal as a director and writer was in 2021 with The Lost Daughter, a psychological drama in which she won the Venice International Film Festival Best Screenplay Award. She also was awarded an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
